We left Genoa early this morning after having a quick breakfast at the B & B where we stayed last night. The views along the Italian and French coastlines were stunning, especially near the border when we passed by Monaco and Monte Carlo. There were a plethora of enormous houses overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and even more yachts that were scattered around the harbor.
It took three trains, but we arrived in Marseille, France, around 5 p.m. First, we booked tickets to get to Figueras, Spain, for tomorrow. Once we arrive there, we will need to book our tickets to Barcelona. We also need to book train tickets from Barcelona to Madrid and from Madrid to Lisbon as soon as we get to Spain. We have to take an overnight train from Madrid to Lisbon and there is only one train per night. We tried to make a reservation a couple of weeks ago but discovered that you have to be in Spain to do so. So, we're hoping there is room on that train.
We checked in to our hostel in Marseille and went out to dinner around 7:30 p.m. On the way to dinner, we found a candy store that was decorated the same way a merry go round looks. Here is a picture of the outside.
We bought some suckers here, as well as some flavored biscuits for breakfast tomorrow
After leaving the candy store, we found a seafood restaurant along the harbor and had another great meal. I ordered salmon ... and it was probably the biggest piece I have ever eaten.
Check out that grilled salmon!
Here are a few random pictures from Marseille so that you get an idea of where we are staying.

Look for an update from España tomorrow night. I am ready to use español again ... and Chris is ready for some total immersion, too. It will be just like Español III again!
Hasta mañana,
Justin
